YOUR INVOLVEMENT
AS A MEMBER
The Co-op requires members to share the responsibilities of governing, operating and maintaining our Co-operative. This is what makes our Co-op so successful. The Co-op maintains high standards because it is directed by the very people who live here.

A willingness to participate is an important criterion for acceptance into membership. Volunteering keeps our costs low and therefore also keeps your housing fee's low.
Living in a non-profit housing co-op means:

-
You will be expected to get involved in running the co-op in some form of manner. This could mean being a board member, joining a committee, such as, the social committee by offering your time to organize a co-op event or activity or doing deliveries to the members. There are many ways to volunteer.
-
You are required to attend General Meetings that are held at least two times a year.
-
You elect a board of directors made up of people who live in your co-op and volunteer their time to do so. We encourage you to run for the board of directors.
-
You will receive audited financial statements that show how the co-op is financially managed.
-
You can live here for as long as you like, as long as you keep to the occupancy agreement, the co-op act and the house policies.

Please note: We are not a care facility. We encourage our members to work with their families to have a plan in place for when they can no longer independently care for themselves.

If you enjoy volunteering and are willing to commit to community living . . . then you’ll enjoy co-op living!
