HOW TO APPLY

How to Apply

Anyone wishing to live at Mission Co-operative Housing Association must first apply for membership.

Please note: Submitting an application does not guarantee membership or housing.

Before You Apply

Please review the following carefully before submitting an application:

  • St. Andrew’s Place is a 55+ community

  • Members are expected to contribute time to the Co-op through volunteering

  • Housing fees are geared to income and set on a sliding scale

  • There are a small number of level-entry units, however these units do not become available often

  • Credit and reference checks will be done

  • We have strict No-Pets and No-Smoking policies

  • Applicants must be ready to move in if offered a unit (one month notice will be given)

Get an Application

You can obtain an application in any of the following ways:

  • Pick one up at the Co-op office

  • Email coopbilling@telus.net to request a printable copy

  • Mail a self-addressed, stamped envelope to our office and we will mail one to you

  • Download and print the application using the link below

Submit Your Application

Once completed, applications may be submitted by:

  • Dropping it off at the office (or through the mail slot if the office is closed)

  • Emailing it to coopbilling@telus.net

  • Mailing it to our office (address listed below)

Application Process

  • Applications are kept on file for 12 months from the date received

  • You must contact the office at least once per year to keep your application active

  • If we do not hear from you within one year, your application will be shredded and you will need to reapply

When a Unit Becomes Available

  • When a vacancy (or potential vacancy) occurs, the Membership Committee reviews applications

  • Three applicants are selected for interviews

  • Selection is based on the needs of the Co-op, not the date of application

  • Only applicants selected for interviews will be contacted

Interviews & Selection

  • Applicants may decline the first interview offer

  • Declining a second interview offer will result in removal from the application list

  • Following interviews, applications are presented anonymously to the Board of Directors

  • The Board selects the applicant by secret ballot

  • All applicants will be notified once a decision has been made.

  • If an applicant is presented to the Board twice and not approved, their application will not be pursued further and the application will be shredded.

Office staff cannot provide interview status updates but can pass messages to the Membership Committee.

Keeping Your Application Up To Date

It is the applicant’s responsibility to keep contact information up to date.

  • If we are unable to reach you for an interview, your application will be shredded.

  • We do not contact applicants to confirm interest.

Privacy

All personal information provided is kept confidential and is used only for membership purposes.

Important Note

Under the Co-operative Act, the Board of Directors and the Membership Committee reserve the right to select the applicant who best meets the current needs of the Co-op.

Thank you for your interest in St. Andrew’s Place.
