-
Submitting your application DOES NOT guarantee acceptance for membership.
-
Your application will be held on file for Twelve (12) months from date of receipt.
-
You must contact the office once a year to keep your application active.
-
If we do not hear from you with-in the year then we will shred your application and you will have to re-apply.
Please note: The office staff cannot answer your application status questions. They can however take a message and pass that information to The Housing & Membership Committee.
Once you are on file:
-
Should a vacancy or a potential vacancy occur, The Housing & Membership Committee will review all applications and select 3 applicants for an interview. Make sure you fill in all the things that you feel you can bring to the Coop on your application. That is what the Housing Committee will look at.
-
The date of application has no bearing on when applicants will be called for an interview. Only those chosen for an interview will be called.
-
If called for an interview, you may refuse the first offer of an interview but if you refuse a second offer, your application will be removed from our file and shredded.
-
Once interviews are completed, The Housing & Membership Committee will present the applications and results of the interviews anonymously to the Board of Directors. (Applicant 1, 2 and 3) The Board will, by secret ballot, vote and choose the applicant that they feel best fits the co-op’s criteria for membership at that time.
-
You will be notified of the results of your interview and the boards vote once that process is completed. If you were not chosen for the unit and the board would like to continue to pursue your application you will be presented to the board again when the next unit becomes available. If you are presented to the board 2 times without being approved for a unit, the board will not further pursue your application and it will be shredded.
-
All applicants that the Board has decided to not pursue further at any point in the process will be notified and their application will be shredded.
*Under the Co-op Act the Board of Directors and The Housing & Membership Committee reserve the right to choose the applicant that best suits the current needs of the Co-op. This will be the applicant that most demonstrates their willingness to contribute to the operation of the Co-op and what the coop needs at the time.
Please remember you must keep us informed of any changes in your situation.
For example: If we call for an interview and we can not reach you, your application will be shredded and you will be removed from our list. You need to phone once a year to check in and update any information. Please call our office number between 8 AM and 1 PM and leave a message on our machine stating your name, phone number and that you are still interested.
We will not be phoning you to see if you are still interested. If after a year we have not heard from you, your application will be shredded.
If your application has not been updated and is shredded, you will have to re-apply.
Your application being on file does not guarantee you membership.
We want to thank all applicants for their interest in our Co-op, however, only those candidates selected for the initial interviews will be contacted.
